Professional Bio
Dr Phillipa Sharwood is an adult and paediatric ophthalmologist practising in Brisbane with special interests in cataract and strabismus surgery. She completed her B. Optometry at UNSW, MBBS at Sydney University and RANZCO Ophthalmology training at Sydney Eye Hospital before undertaking 2 years of further subspecialist training the UK at the Cambridge University Hospitals and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (London). She is extensively involved in education and trains ophthalmology registrars and medical students in cataract surgery, adult strabismus and neuro-ophthalmology at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and in paediatric ophthalmology, strabismus and cataract at Queensland Childrens Hospital. She is a RANZCO College Examiner in Ophthalmic Sciences, a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Queensland, and a supervisor of final year QUT Optometry students at her private practice, Queensland Ophthalmic Specialists in Taringa
