Michael Yapp - Head of Clinical Operations
BOptom (Hons), MOptom, GradCertOcTher, FAAO
Michael has had a diverse range of clinical experience throughout his career, working in private practice before undertaking locum work Australia-wide and in the UK.
Prior to joining Centre for Eye Health at its inception in 2009, he honed his diagnostic skills working at two different ophthalmology practices.
Michael’s interest in education started early in his career when he was a staff optometrist at UNSW. Since then he has continued to educate optometrists including having being invited to speak at numerous Australian Optometry conferences as well as prominent international conferences in New Zealand, India and America.
Michael was instrumental in setting up a glaucoma collaborative care clinic with the Prince of Wales Hospital Ophthalmology department in 2015 and has also been actively involved in coordinating glaucoma co-management with Westmead Hospital Ophthalmology through the Community-Eye-Care program.
He has lectured widely on glaucoma diagnosis and management both at the undergraduate and postgraduate level nationally and internationally.
As well as publishing a range of glaucoma related articles in industry journals, he has also been actively involved in research with regards to referral pathways being a co-author on several papers investigating the benefits and outcomes of glaucoma collaborative care.
