George Nasser
Professional Bio
George graduated from UNSW in 1980 and commenced in private practice in Western Sydney. The demographics meant that most patients were Health Card holders and went to OPSM to have their spectacles made.
In 1984 he broke the 25 year OPSM domination by getting 128 optometrists in NSW to group together, setting up Opticare and winning the tender. This allowed Optometrists to retain their Health Card patients and make their spectacles for the first time.
From the beginning new and challenging options evolved. He now spends his time creating progressive lens designs with minimal distortions and researching instruments that create better a understanding of our patients vision.
He has advocated the use of Wavefront Refraction and its application in day to day Optometry since 2014. He is also a strong advocate of combining Wavefront Refraction with Digital Freeform lenses creating a new world that will replace 0.25D enigma. He is currently working on a project to replace the “Diopter” with Rx Mapping.
